Jude burrowed closer to me as we cuddled in bed with a heavy sigh. “Ugh, I’m not ready for the term to start in two days.”

I stroked his hair as I held him with my other arm. “Same. I’ve been enjoying our break from the real world and all its responsibilities.”

“Can’t we hide a little longer?”

I smiled at his adorable grumblings. “We’ll have plenty of time to see each other during the term.”

“You’re always welcome here, even if you want a place to work away from your roommate. I promise I’ll leave you alone if that’s why you come over.” He kissed my shoulder, then nuzzled against me again. His catlike behavior made me feel like I had my own personal Cheshire cat sometimes.

“Thanks for the offer, but Zio is very respectful and quiet. We get along great, which is a good thing given how small our place is. After the disasters I lived with during my undergrad years, I hit the roommate lottery jackpot with him.”

Jude perked up with interest. “Ooh, that sounds like you have some fun horror stories.”

“I don’t think that’s quite the right word for it.”

He winced with a look of deep sympathy. “That bad?”

“My senior year, I had just returned from spring break in Japan and was still jet-lagged. Frank thought that meant I’d be tired enough to sleep through him fucking his latest hookup. Needless to say, he was furious when that turned out not to be true.”

“Wow, talk about obnoxious.”

“Oh, it got worse. She invited me to join in the fun, so he threw her out of the apartment naked for being so ‘gross’ and implying he was gay. I took her clothes out to her, which he somehow twisted into evidence that I wanted to suck his dick.”

He laughed with an incredulous expression. “The mental gymnastics required to reach that conclusion is almost impressive. What happened after that?”

“I told him to go to sleep since he was drunk. He woke up in the morning with no memory of the incident, so we never spoke of it again.”

“Wow, he sounds like a real peach.”

I ran my fingers through my hair with a sigh. “That’s one word for him. That was a long damn year.”

“I’m glad Zio is better. But if there are loud parties in your dorm, you’re welcome to escape here. If he doesn’t mind the couch, he can come over, too.”

I kissed his forehead. “Thank you. By some small miracle, it seems to be filled with studious monks. However, if they ever go wild, I’ll take you up on your offer. On that note, we should sleep. I don’t know how you haven’t passed out yet with the workout I’ve given you.”

He snickered at that. “We’ve made a valiant attempt at trying to make up for five years of no sex in five days.”

“I’d say.”

“You’ve already spoiled me. Sleeping alone again will suck. Are you sure you can’t stay tomorrow night, too?”

“We both need to prepare tomorrow for Monday’s classes.” I guided him onto his side so I could curl up behind him.
